Natural collagen production is reduced when we age, resulting in thinner and more fragile skin.
The process of derma rolling can stimulate some collagen production. It uses fine needles to puncture the skin. The skin releases substances to stimulate repair. New blood vessels will form in the skin. Finally, the skin will begin to make more collagen.
However, instead of derma rolling, as long as there is still the production of collagen in your skin, I would recommend an esthetician-performed microdermabrasion procedure to improve collagen production.
Microdermabrasion is a much stronger procedure as opposed to derma rolling, which is compratively week.
Microdermabrasion uses tiny crystals or diamonds to wound the skin and make the skin react. The skin reaction to heal the wound causes the production of collagen. Next, the skin is vacuumed to clean up loose skin cells and dirt. Both of these actions improve circulation and delivery of nutrients/oxygen to the skin cells.
This results in an improvement in collagen production, especially when compared to derma rolling.
