Q: Can I apply a moisturizer for dry skin on normal skin?

It is important to use a proper skincare product, including the right moisturizer, that is dependent on your skin condition and needs.

A moisturizer suited for dry skin is an oil-based moisturizer that is going to give too much oil to normal skin and can cause skin irritation because of having a different pH/acid level in the product.

Also, if and when you are applying makeup, if the base is too oily, the foundation is not going to set on the skin and will appear to be cakey.

So if you think your skin is normal, but a moisturizer for dry skin still works well on your skin, you may have a combination skin type.

I would recommend consulting with your esthetician and get advice on your skin condition and proper skin care products. After analyzing your skin, they will give you good recommendations on the types of products that you can use. This can help you find the right moisturizer for your needs.
