Here are a couple of questions that I received today!
Q: Is it normal for after a really bad sunburn (like outside for 3 hours without sunscreen and burn really easy so it takes a couple of weeks to heal) to itch for like a week after it heals? Melanoma skin cancer does run in my family.
That is a normal part of the process of healing.
Depending on your age, your skin should normally start the process right after sunburn and heal completely after 28 days. This is the length for your skin to make a new layer to replace the sunburned/ damaged skin.
As we get older, this process will take longer.
Using Aloe Vera gel is one helpful way to speed up the process of healing. Another way, creams with having Oxide de zinc as their one of or only active ingredients are great to heal the wound on your skin.
Good luck and feel free to ask questions or follow up if you want.

Q: I know someone who has melasma. Should she go for a chemical peel or laser treatment? She does not have a budget.
I am personally against doing any kind of laser treatment on the skin because no matter what, a laser enters deeply into your skin. This may lead to your lymph functions being affected, which may potentially cause cancer in the end.
So rather than a laser treatment, I would go with Lactic treatments for at least 3 sessions, depending on how pigmented her skin is.
Also, she needs to prepare before getting chemical peels, such as doing the patch test, to test whether or not she is allergic to Lactic. She also needs to deeply moisturize her skin at least a week before her first chemical peel in order to have the greatest effect.
Make sure she asks plenty of questions of the esthetician or dermatologist performing her procedure to ensure that she’s getting the proper care for her skin that she actually needs.
