Q: Should I apply sunscreen in my night skincare routine?

You probably do not need to apply sunscreen during your night skincare routine.

Basically, you only need to apply sunscreen at night time if you are under LED light bulbs. If not, there is no need to wear sunscreen at all during the nighttime.

There is no need to wear sunscreen as part of a night routine because the sunscreen is not doing anything good for your skin when it’s dark.

Rather, the sunscreen can clog your pores or cause having excess oil or moisture on your skin all night, which then causes a breakout.

Also, having extra products on your skin can cause black or whiteheads as well.

So only use sunscreen in the morning, even if it’s raining. It’s important to wear sunscreen during the day to protect your skin from UVA and UVB rays.

But in terms of the skincare aspect, you don’t need sunscreen when it is dark. This makes it optional when you are doing your nightly skincare routine.

On a personal note, it just so happens sometimes that I just like the hydrating aspect of my sunscreen, so I apply it under my makeup at night time before going out But I don’t wear it for any reason other than this.
