Q: Does Salicylic Acid Cleanser Purge Your Skin?

Salicylic acid cleanser is appropriate for oily skin with acne because it deeply exfoliates the skin.

If you use clinical-grade cleansers and if you do not have an oily skin, that would harm your skin and cause skin damage by possibly removing too much oil. Other side effects may include skin tingling or stinging, itching, or peeling skin.

So, salicylic acid should not be used without the advice of an esthetician or physician/dermatologist who can help you determine your skin.

However, if you are using the drugstore-grade salicylic cleanser, it will just dry your skin with not too much harm. This is because it is not that concentrated.

Anyway, I would recommend that the only times you should use salicylic acid is when you have an oily skin type. If you have oily skin, it will help reduce some of the potential risks of having too much of your skin’s oil removed.
