Email Questions: August 7, 2021

Here are a few questions that I received in my email today, August 7, 2021!

Please feel free to send me more at modernskintherapy@gmail.com!

Question 1: Which is more necessary, toner or serum? I am a student and I just started using skincare products, so I don’t have money to buy both at the same time. If you were me, which one would you choose?

Don’t waste your money buying toner. Toner does not do much of anything thing for your skin.

The only thing a toner does is even out the PH of your skin. When your skin gets dry, there is no more protection.

On the other hand, the serum is necessary in order to help your skin keep its moisture inside.

Serum penetrates into your skin and moisturizer stays on your skin to protect it from outside “things” to irritate your skin and dry your skin out.

So I would recommend buying a serum over toner.

Question 2: I pressed the derma roller too hard on my face. The skin has been red and swollen for the last 36 hours. It is getting better. How long would it take for my skin to get back to normal?

I believe that I mentioned before that a derma roller should only be used by professionals. So be careful in the future!

With regards to the healing process, it depends on how hard you pushed it and how much you damaged your skin. It normally takes 28 days for the outer layer of the skin to heal if it is just the surface that is damaged.

However, if you damaged your skin in more depth, you should expect it to take longer than that.

You can use vitamin E-liquid on your face at night time after cleansing your skin to speed up the healing process since vitamin E makes skin cells.

Question 3: Is it okay to apply coconut oil since my face feels way too dry? Also, what about the aloe vera?

Coconut oil only closes your skin’s pores and doesn’t let the skin breathe.

Use Vitamin E instead as it can do it all for you, You can put it on both at night and morning under your sunscreen.

Also, Aloe Vera is another good option. I would buy a little Aloe Vera plant and cut the skin to get to the gel inside it. Apply some of the gel on your skin until it gets dry.

Also every time you wash your face only pat a warm towel on your skin and don’t drag the towel on your skin.

If you live near me stop by my place to take a look at your skin so I can give you better/ more specific advice.

That’s it for the questions for August 7, 2021. Like I said before, please feel free to send me more!
